About the Market

The Onancock Market is a 501(c)3 volunteer-driven organization, established in 2012 for the purpose of providing a venue for local farmers, watermen and artisans to offer their fresh, seasonal, and locally grown and manufactured products and qualified art directly to residents and visitors in the community.

We are a vendor-produced only market, which means that all vendors have made, grown or caught 100% of the products they offer for sale.

Shoppers are buying directly from the source.

The Onancock Market serves to:

  • Create and stimulate economic development and viability of our local farming and fishing community and support the regional arts community.

  • Revive the historic role of Onancock as a regional market center and promote Onancock as a shopping destination.

  • Provide a venue for families, friends and neighbors to gather creating a greater sense of community.

  • Educate the public about the importance of our local agricultural heritage and the role played by farmers and watermen.

  • Educate the community about the benefits of growing, selling, cooking, preserving, eating and celebrating local food.

Get involved!

We are always looking to expand our amazing network of volunteers, vendors, and community members who make the market the special place it is.

The Onancock Farmers Market welcomes Angela Faraguna and Joel Simpson to their Board of Directors:

Angela, owner of Angela’s Pop Up Bakery has, with the assistance of her son Jeremy, been a significant food vendor since the Market was established in 2012. Angela believes this gives her tremendous insight into where the Market has been and the great potential it has going forward. Angela has served on the advisory board of her son’s school, as well as participating in fundraising efforts for numerous animal groups. The OFM board looks forward to benefitting from the experience she brings to this position as a successful, independent businesswoman.

Joel, a gifted wood artisan, and his wife Dawn with her crocheted creatures, have been popular vendors at the Market for many seasons. Joel has seen first-hand that the Market benefits Onancock by attracting visitors, bringing together neighbors, and providing healthy food to the community. Joel, a NASA engineer for 37 years, has chaired many organizational boards including his church council, the Artisans Guild, the Bloxom Food Pantry, and his home-owners association. This experience has strengthened Joel’s conviction that non-profits such as the Onancock Market require constant attention in order to thrive and grow.

The Onancock Market Board is grateful for the fresh perspectives and wisdom these two individuals will bring to our future endeavors.
